Fire Brigade.
This truck was originally City of London, Ontario, Engine 4, then
Crash/Fire/Rescue pump at RCAF Station Trenton, Ontario during the British
Commonwealth Air Training Plan in WW2. It can be seen in the 1942 movie
"Captains of the Clouds" starring James Cagney, which was filmed in
Trenton & Ottawa, Ontario. It is 1 of only 3 identical units made, and
after it was modified in Trenton with a 750 gallon water tank - replacing the
original 200 Gallon tank - it became one of a kind. It returned to London
after WWII and was later sold to Burleigh-Anstruther Township (now called North
Kawartha Township) where it resided in Station #1, Northey's Bay for many years.
My father purchased it for $700, and drove it home, 260 Kilometers!! It's
last known to be located in Hamilton, Ontario, and well cared for. I Hope
so!!
